Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco – February 17, 2025 – The Vallarta Gay+ Community Center (VC+CC) and Vallarta Medical Center (VMC) are pleased to announce a groundbreaking partnership aimed at providing comprehensive, accessible, and inclusive healthcare services to the LGBTQ+ community in Puerto Vallarta and beyond.
This partnership marks an exciting milestone in the efforts to address the unique healthcare needs of LGBTQ+ individuals, ensuring that every member of the community has access to compassionate, respectful, and high-quality medical care. The collaboration seeks to foster an environment of safety, support, and inclusivity, with a strong emphasis on understanding and addressing the health disparities often faced by LGBTQ+ individuals.
“Our community center was founded a year ago to ensure widespread and continued distribution of PrEP medications to those who need it in the Puerto Vallarta region,” said Pedro Lopez, Executive Director of the VG+CC. “However we are not set up to offer general medical services and for this we especially value the outreach of the Vallarta Medical Center to provide these services at a discount to our clients.”
The Vallarta Medical Center offers an Urgent Care Center in the Zona Romantica of Puerto Vallarta at Ignacio L. Vallarta 333 Int. 2, Col. Emiliano Zapata. The hospital itself is located in the Diaz Ordaz neighborhood opposite Plaza Caracol.
“The Vallarta Medical Center is uniquely positioned to provide compassionate services to the LGBTQ+ community as we are a community owned and operated medical facility,” said Israel Valdez Cruz, Marketing Manager.
Key Highlights of the Partnership:
- Comprehensive Healthcare Services: Vallarta Medical Center will offer a wide range of medical services, including general health care, mental health services, HIV/AIDS care, sexual health services, hormone therapy, and gender-affirming care, among others, specifically tailored to the needs of the LGBTQ+ community. All services are bilingual with only urgent services offered at the Zona Romantica location.
- $400 peso Urgent or Emergency Care Visits: When someone is in need of a quick consultation in order to address a health issue, they can go directly to VMC or their urgent care clinic to access a consultation at a special price.
- Further Service Discounts: VMC will also offer discounts of up 20% on their other services to VG+CC clients.
- Supportive Programs and Events: The Vallarta Gay+ Community Center will work closely with the Vallarta Medical Center to host community events, workshops, and seminars on a variety of health-related topics, from sexual wellness to mental health, and provide peer support networks to help navigate healthcare services. The first seminar will be held on February 20 at 6pm at the Community Center’s located at Calle Moreno 101 Interior 3B, above the Santander Bank on the Rio Cuale. The topic will be conducted by a VMC epidemiologist Dr. Jesus Garcia Cuara, explaining the benefits and answering questions about PEP and PrEP.
- Safe and Inclusive Environment: Both organizations are dedicated to maintaining a safe, welcoming environment where LGBTQ+ individuals feel comfortable and empowered to seek the care they deserve.
“We are thrilled to partner with Vallarta Medical Center to address the healthcare needs of our community,” said Don Pickens, Board President for the Vallarta Gay+ Community Center. The VMC recognizes the importance of the services and outreach provided by the Community Center and will be supporting the Center financially to expand its outreach to the community.
Dr. Alberto Marron, Medical Director of Vallarta Medical Center, expressed their excitement about the collaboration: “At Vallarta Medical Center, we are committed to offering healthcare that prioritizes the well-being of every individual. By joining forces with the Vallarta Gay+ Community Center, we are enhancing our ability to deliver personalized, affirming care to the LGBTQ+ community and helping create a more inclusive space for all.”
